What's Holding Me Back from Taking Action?

Is My Money Being Spent on the Things That Truly Matter to Me?

How should we conduct ourselves?

Comments

  1. Good morning everyone, hope you are having an amazing day! My money personality is Nurturer. Also known The Sponsor. I guess it is a gift and a curse I will go without to help someone in need or a family member.
I think what is holding back is fear of failure, I think the majority of my income goes to bills and necessities. We should conduct ourselves with respect, love and learn to be confident.

    1. Wilma I completely understand this. We always want to fill from a cup that is half full.

    2. "I tend to think of money in the same way I regard time. It's a form of energy. It comes and goes according to my intentions. The clearer my intentions, the more the money flows." I read this in the article Eileen sent us & I felt it resonated with me so much I just felt the need to share.

    3. Wilma. You can succeed. I hope you do well. This class is going to help you and we will support you.

    4. I totally get it Wilma, having all our money going to our Necessities that we need instead of doing things that we want is a struggle. I hope in this class we will learn how to be a little bit selfish sometimes and take care of ourselves. I think we're all in the same boat more or less. We got this !

    5. Hi Wilma, thank you for sharing your money personality with our class. For me financial avoidance is deeply rooted in anxiety, I think that was a learned behavior from my childhood. This group of ladies has a very nice vibe in our Tuesday evening gatherings! We have a great leader/teacher, her name is Eileen! Looking forward to learning more about my relationship with money as I see how that may hold me back.

    6. Hi ladies, thank you so much. Niecy I like that. I totally agree Holly. Sheila, Nija, Amy I agree., the class is already helping I cant wait to see how we do by the end. It will be exciting.

  2. Hi everyone happy Friday jr. I would say my money personality is Irresponsible. I will give of myself no matter how much or how little I have. I don’t know how to set boundaries for myself, I guess I’m compensating for the things I yearned for that at times I couldn’t have in my youth. So I am what holds me back. We should show ourselves love and patience while navigating through this journey.

    1. I agree with you Amy! Alot of times I find myself getting things that I ways wanted when I was a child & do the same for my daughter.

    2. Yes Niecey, it’s our love language. We need to find a way to heal our inner children so we can find other ways to love where we aren’t making the same financial mistakes over and over 😂

    3. Amy I totally understand because I'm missing way as well I've been through a lot of traumas so I want to make sure that my kids don't suffer the same ways I did so I make sure that they have their needs met. I'm over compensating for food for prime example. I don't get SNAP benefits so it's difficult spending my own cash on food because I spend close to $1,000 a month to feed a family of seven. I believe that coming to this class we're going to learn things that will benefit us and get us out of our mindsets that we have now. It's not there being but it's the beginning of something.

    4. I can definitely relate to this.

  3. In response to what is holding me back from taking action? I feel lost about how to invest money or just to prioritize my money.

    1. I get it Holly sometimes investing money is kind of scary especially if you don't know the ins and outs they can talk me down and say it's going to bring me a million dollars and I'll still be scared to invest my $50 because I don't know if they're telling me the truth or if they're trustworthy. I totally understand that.

  4. Is My Money Being Spent on the Things That Truly Matter to Me? That's at times hard to answer this question, but what I would like to figure out from this class is what does matter to me. As for the third question, How should we conduct ourselves? I would say keep positive, acknowledge that I don't know everything and learn from my mistakes.

  5. Good evening ladies!
After taking the whats my money personality quiz I found that I am a connector, also considered the relationship creator. I understand that money is needed to survive but it's never been super important to me & the test pinpointed areas i need to work on if i want to thrive instead of just survive. I do treasure relationships I have with people and I have too often undercharged for services I knew I shouldn't have. To answer the 3 questions: I'm in the way of taking action; constantly second guessing myself leaves me in a place of stagnation. My money is definitely not being spent on what truly matters to me. I could've been achieved my goals years ago if I had better money management skills. I believe the most important way to conduct ourselves is to remain grateful for what we have while still planning for our future goals. To live below my means will help me prosper I feel. I hope you all are having a wonderful evening & thank you for taking the time to read & share your thoughts as well. Good night😊

    1. I also could have made better choices financially and could have had reached my goals by now. You can change the course of your life and reach goals. This class will help you. And we will support you. Keep your head up.

    2. You have a great understanding of where you are and where you want to go with your money mindset. I totally get this second-guessing thing; it can hold you back from making progress. Especially when you know you are worth it, it is something many people struggle with including me. I love your idea about living below your means and planning for the future. I am all for that. It is definitely a key step towards Financial Freedom. Wishing you the best!

    3. Living below our means! I embrace that 100%. That right there was the guiding principle that my mother lived by. Having only one income and a family of 6 wasn't easy. I like your comment about living below your means and how that will help you prosper. I once had a real estate agent tell me that I could afford a home more pricey that I was looking at. Thank goodness I listened to my gut then as that was right around the beginning of the housing crisis around 2008.

  6. Good Evening Ladies I've never really treasured money having my own place since the age of 18 I knew I had to pay my bills to keep my place never thinking about prioritizing myself I just spent it as it came not knowing it was more to it as time went on I realized the importance never investing or even saving I can see it now this will help me

    1. I agree with you 100%, real talk, a lot of us I dont think were taught how to prioritize ourselves or handle money unless we seen it and mimicked it. It was all about surviving and not thriving. But thats growth noticing it. Its never too late for us to start making better moves with our $$. Where you been and where you trying to go is powerful. Keep Pushing Rochelle!

  7. Hi. I have a good job with good pay, but what's holding me back is not having enough pay after student loans and bills are paid. Thinking of getting a side job to work towards my goals of home ownership and debt reduction, as well as saving for retirement.

    1. If you think that's the move for you Sheila sounds good for your homeownership sometimes we have to sacrifice to accomplish what we want I'm doing that now

    2. I understand how student loans and bills can make it feel like there is not much left to move forward. A side job could definitely help and be a smart move, especially if it helps you with your debt, builds savings, and helps you toward homeownership. You have a clear vision and thats the first step. Have you heard of Habitat for Humanity?

    3. Awhile back I had a financial goal and looking back on it now that took a good amount of discipline and determination. I am mentioning that Sheila as I had a side "gig" and worked tirelessly to put money away for my financial goal. I consider that scenario possible mostly because my son spent every other weekend with his father. Without that making a side job work it would have been much more difficult.

  9. Hello Ladies!
My money personality is Nurturer. I enjoy helping others. Learning to set health money boundaries, it can be a little challenging with love ones. What is holding me back is ME, set a goal plan and sticking with it. Money is being spent on bills and my children. We should conduct ourselves by being grateful, understanding, and continue to learn and grow.

    1. It is awesome that you identify as a nurturer, Quanna. That is such a strong trait, but I can see how setting boundaries, especially with loved ones, can be tough. It is great that you recognize the need to set and stick to your goals. It is amazing that you are focused on being grateful and continuing to grow, both in money management and in life. You are definitely on the right path. Keep it up, girl, you got this!

    2. What a great and honorable money personality Quanna. In my experience, some of my loved ones were showing love through teaching me how to be frugal. I would have appreciated those family members showing their love through words and hugs. I am looking forward to sharing this financial journey with all of you ladies! See you Tuesday.

    3. One this I forgot was I could learn to be more of a nurturer and appreciate you for being one.

  10. Hello everyone,
After taking the money personality course it says that I'm an Accumulator which I find funny because it's like a double edge sword mentally I know how to save and have ideas on so many things that can bring more money but I'm afraid to take that step to invest in myself or anything else. I live within my means. I'm not the flashing time or like to show off flashing things even if I did have money.
I believe what's holding me back is fear. I can't even front, I'm scared of what I'm truly capable of. I know I can do more, but the fear of failure or not being enough holds me back everyday. It's crazy but that's what I think about.
I spend things on what we need not as much as what we want. It's not easy trying to support a family of seven on what Society thinks is middle class. I don't make enough to support my family and get out of debt at the same time. It's like climbing a muddy slide. I wish I could stretch my dollars more, but it's tough out there. Just have to keep grinding and praying for a way out.
I conduct myself putting my best foot forward. Every chance I get, I'm in that learning mindset. Taking every opportunity to grow, even if it's something small. You never know what might help you a little. Just staying open, humble, and grinding.

    1. My money personality was an Accumulator as well Nija. It mentioned that my money challenges were feeling guilt or doubt about investing, so I can relate with you about that. I strongly feel that learning about money management and actively participating in this class will reduce my anxiety about financial stress and arm myself with knowledge and skills to more effectively manage money.

  11. What's holding me back is the lack of money. I dont have money to even begin saving right now. But in the near future I plan on having a little job, ill put my tools into work especially then.
The money I have now ,I spent on the things that are NEEDED..not wanted. Every penny goes to what we need in this household or bills.
